Fins help your board track straight and also hold onto the wave face when surfing waves. There are two main types of fins: CENTER FINS and SIDE FINS. Center fins are needed in nearly all cases, and for our rigid SUP boards they are interchangeable because the center fin box is universal. Side fins are primarily for surfing use and are not needed for flat-water, though they can be added to create more stability and tracking, but will slow down your board.
