 HOW TO CHOOSE
YOUR TAHE
WINGFOIL GEAR?

three elements make up the set:

the board, the wing, and the foil!

To get started, it’s important to choose a board that has enough volume to guarantee buoyancy and stability, a foil that will allow you to make your first flights quickly and a wing with the correct surface for your skillset. Having the right equipment makes all the difference when learning to wingfoil, so it’s important that you choose wisely. Here, we’ve put together some advice to help you pick the TAHE equipment you need to get started.

FOIL

Finding the right foil is perphaps the most important part of your wingfoil setup. At TAHE, our Aquilon foils have everything you need to learn to fly. We offer a single foil model with two wing surfaces to help you get started and progress quickly. For both of our models, the mast and fuselage are made from aluminum and the wing and stabilizer are made from carbon.

  •  The TAHE Aquilon 2000 foil is the ideal model for beginners in light wind, especially for those over 80 kg. With its 2000 cm2 front wing, it offers excellent lift and good stability in flight, while remaining maneuverable and easy to use.
  •  The TAHE Aquilon 1500 foil is designed for lighter or more experienced riders. It provides excellent lift for early take-off while remaining forgiving and maneuverable, with more speed than the Aquilon 2000 model.

BOARD

In the TAHE range, we have three board models to help you get started and progress in wingfoiling:  two inflatable model (5'11 130 liters and 6'2 140 liters) and a rigid model (5'8 110 liters).

  • The Aria Air inflatable (5'11 or 6'2) is made with the same technology as our TAHE inflatable SUP, the Aria Air. It’s the ideal board for beginners : it’s stable, easy to transport, and easy to store. With its generous volume and width, it offers a stable platform to learn wingfoiling, with or without footstraps.
  • The Aria 5'8 rigid is made in France (Ace-Tec Technology) and is opening the doors for wing foilers who want a rigid board at an affordable price. Stiffer and more responsive than the Aria Air, it allows you to experience the sensation of flying from the moment you take off.  The inserts on the deck allow you to adapt footstraps to secure your feet when the wind is strong.

WING

When searching for a wing, the main thing to consider is the wing surface. First, you’ll want to choose a single surface that is "all-purpose". Then, you’ll take into account your weight, the conditions you’ll be riding in,  the volume of your board, and the size of your foil. The surface of the wing should also be adapted according to the flotation and model of the board—the more buoyancy/lift generated by the foil, the more you can decrease the wing surface.

  • Our Alizé wing is available in four sizes: 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 and 6.0 m2. Light, compact, and super intuitive with its two mini-tubes, it’s very easy to handle and is fun in all types of conditions.

Wing size vs wind range

To help you choose your wing surface, here is a table of recommended wing surfaces according to the wind strength and your experience level.
