THE BRAND NAME CHANGES BUT OUR LEGENDARY PRODUCTS CONTINUE

Ever since its creation in 1979, BIC Sport has written its own legend by releasing products that have very much defined the history of board sports. After the explosion of popularity of windsurf in the 80s and 90s, BIC Sport unleashed series after series of surfboards, windsurf boards, Stand Up Paddle boards and kayaks that have sold in their tens of thousands, even millions, all over the world. Manufactured, as they always have been, at the BIC Sport factory in Vannes, Brittany, the whole range now bears the new name TAHE. The branding is changing, but not the production values and the legendary products themselves!

Windsurf

First conceived at the beginning of the 2000’s, the Techno range signalled the birth of a new generation of “wide body” freeride boards, not just wider, but easier to ride and higher performance, factors that are still influencing windsurf now, 20 years later.

The Techno name symbolises freeride fun, with various Techno shapes, the 283, 293 and 148 achieving huge success. The Techno 293 OD is indisputably the best-selling windsurf board and more than 10,000 young riders race them every season.

The new Techno Wind Foil 130 is following in its wake, becoming THE new worldwide windsurf foil board for youngsters everywhere, carrying the new TAHE branding.

Surf

In the middle of the 1990s the surfing world was turned upside down by the arrival of the first mass-production BIC Surf boards, signature shapes designed by surf legend, Gérard Dabbadie.

The first, the Malibu 7’9, was a revolution for what had been an exclusive sport only available to the few. The Malibu changed all that, opening surfing up to the widest possible public.

It was followed a few years later by the Mini Malibu 7’3 which went on to sell over a million units! And it’s still an important element of the TAHE range, taking its place alongside other renowned boards such as the 8’4 Magnum, the 7’0 Egg and the 7’6 Mini-Longboard.

Stand-Up-Paddle

The company’s latest addition to its range came about with the widespread take-off of Paddle Board in late 2000.

A powerful new-wave that the French brand itself surfed by releasing the Performer 10’6 and 11’6 models and the Cross 10’ and 11’among others. These boards have climbed to the top of the “hit parade” of best-sellers in the new sport and have accompanied tens of thousands off paddlers as they explore Stand Up Paddle. They are present in the 2021 collection, carrying the new TAHE branding and are still among the best-selling models worldwide.

Kayak

Making a difference through modern design, innovative technology and quality fittings, that was the gamble for the BIC Kayak range when it was fist launched.

The first of them, the Bilbao, was in instant hit as soon as it appeared, selling strongly and winning a prestigious design award. The gamble paid off! It was quickly followed by the Tobago and various other models that have become household names in the kayak world.

Their fluid hull designs also inspired subsequent models like the Borneo and Java that have also become benchmark kayaks. TAHE is giving them a new lease of life in 2021, with some subtle re-design and striking new colours/graphics.
