THE BIC SPORT STORY | THE PURSUIT OF FUN
Born from the rise of windsurfing and the mass take-up of board sports in the early 80s, BIC Sport established its reputation and image on the principle of “fun”, and the success of its media-star rider teams conquering the legendary Hawaiian waves. This experience was the inspiration behind the creation of the best-selling windsurf boards in the sport’s history. Later, in the 90s, BIC Sport successfully diversified into other board and water sports: surf, kayak, junior/ child-friendly dinghies, and eventually Stand Up Paddle. This quickly made it the benchmark brand for board and water sport fanatics and addicts of all skill levels.
BIC Sport also opened up the world of competition and racing as widely as possible, with the creation of two landmark monotype products for youngsters. The Techno 293 OD windsurfer and the O’pen Skiff dinghy can now be found equipping sailing clubs and schools in nearly 60 countries worldwide. Another unique factor making its reputation is that it is the only mass manufacturer to retain its main production site in Europe, in Brittany, France.
